The goal of our treatment of allergy disorders at Accent ENT is to deliver state of the art care in a cost effective fashion. The mainstay of conservative therapy for allergic rhinitis is a well planned combination of allergy medicines. With this therapy, allergy testing is usually unnecessary and a cost to you that can be avoided. Of course for the more difficult patient, we do have full allergy testing and immunotherapy treatment capability, including allergy shots and sublingual immunotherapy. For these patients, we conduct a focused round of testing for common allergens in this area, avoiding the expense of expensive, unnecessary testing.
For patients with more extensive allergic rhinitis, chronic sinus problems, and nasal polyps, Accent ENT has Gainesville’s most experienced team of sinus surgeons. Our surgeons not only have extensive experience, but are also devoted to minimally invasive sinus procedures, such as fully endoscopic sinus surgery and balloon sinuplasty.
Of course, not everyone with sinus problems needs sinus surgery, and the ENT physicians at Accent also have extensive experience and expertise in the medical management of sinus disorders. An Otologist is an ENT doctor with extra training and expertise in disorders of the ear, to include hearing loss, tinnitus (or ringing in the ear), and dizziness and balance issues. Our Otologist, Dr. Michelle Hargreaves, completed a two year fellowship in the surgical and medical management of disorders of the ear, and specializes in ear surgery, to include cochlear implants, tympanoplasty, and surgery for hearing disorders. She also works closely with our audiologists for patients with hearing loss, tinnitus, and dizziness and balance disorders, and is considered an expert in this field.
↑ Back to topAccent ENT also has a fellowship trained and Board Certified Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, Daniel J. Hall, M.D., F.A.C.S. Dr. Hall performs the full range of cosmetic facial procedures, to include rhinoplasty, facelift, blepharoplasty, and otoplasty. Dr. Hall also works closely with Ms. Valerie Timmons, Accent’s esthetician, to provide chemical peels, laser treatments, Botox, fillers, and many other esthetic services.
Dr. Hall does not limit himself to cosmetic procedures, taking great pride in the reconstructive work he performs. He works closely with many Gainesville dermatologists to assist in the reconstruction of facial skin cancer defects. A particular area of expertise of Dr. Hall is difficult nasal surgery, both cosmetic and reconstructive, and he specializes in primary and revision work for difficult breathing through the nose.
↑ Back to topThe Gainesville Thyroid & Parathyroid Center at Accent Physician Specialists, P.A. is a truly integrated team of endocrinologists and surgeons who combine to provide Gainesville’s most experienced, comprehensive care for thyroid and parathyroid disorders. Led by Drs. Ann Glowasky and Catherine Edwards, the Thyroid & Parathyroid Center is the only such integrated team in Gainesville. The surgeons at Accent perform approximately 150 thyroid and 50 parathyroid surgeries a year, giving them the experience needed for these technically demanding surgeries. Our team has also worked closely with North Florida Regional Medical Center to institute intraoperative parathyroid hormone monitoring for all of our parathyroidectomy cases, which is considered to be the state of the art for care.
↑ Back to topAlthough we all have our particular areas of interest, most of the physicians at Accent continue to enjoy their practice of General Otolaryngology, to include hearing and balance issues, speech and swallowing problems, PE tube and tonsil surgery, head and neck cancer, and the treatment of the effects of acid reflux in the throat. Our practice is the only private ENT practice in Gainesville that incorporates testing for balance and dizziness, videostroboscopy for voice disorders, Botox for spasmodic dysphonia, and 24 hour pH probe measurements for acid reflux disease.
Dr. James Walker of Accent limits his practice to Pediatric Otolaryngology, focusing on tonsil and adenoid and PE tube surgery.
