We’ve all gotten things like sand, dust or other foreign objects in our eye. Our first impulse is to rub it out but to avoid a much bigger problem, DO NOT RUB YOUR EYES. Instead, get the object out by washing your eye(s) with water. If that doesn’t take care of it, consult with your eye doctor immediately.
Unpleasant and painful indeed…first, you should place an ice-pack or cold cloth over your eye for at least 15 minutes to reduce swelling and pain. Get to your local ophthalmologist as soon as possible for further treatment.
Ouch!!! Just hearing about this is enough to make you cringe but if you get something like a stick or pencil stuck in your eye, you should put a loose bandage on your eye around the object. DO NOT PULL IT OUT. Get to a doctor right away for treatment…you may have to go to the Emergency Room for immediate treatment but you should follow up with your Gainesville eye doctor as soon as possible.
If a chemical like a cleaning solvent or battery acid splashes in your eyes, go rinse them under cold water for at least 10 minutes and then see your local eye doctor as soon as possible.
